Weekly Photo Challenge: Lunchtime

From WordPress:  It’s phonoegraphy month, and what do we love to photograph with our cameraphones? Food. So why fight it? This week’s theme is “lunchtime.”  In a new post created for this challenge, share a picture that says LUNCHTIME.

Ok, if ever there were a photo theme that was right up my alley, this would be it!!!

My typical lunch is a salad ….  so here are a few of my favorites from the last week…..

This one was featured on my What I Ate Wednesday Post on 3/13/13 ….

Posted this one on Instagram (katiedaisy921) ….

This was a catered lunch at work from Jason’s Deli.  With grilled chicken, organic field greens, grapes, feta, nuts, dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds, raisins and apples, it’s the perfect mix of ingredients for a filling lunch.

From my What I Ate Wednesday Post on 3/6/13…..  deer meat and hard boiled eggs make this a protein-packed salad!

Homemade venison salad

This is my very favorite salad of all time.  There’s a local place called Brown Bag, which caters our work lunches frequently.  It’s a very basic salad – spinach leaves, mandarin oranges, blackberries, shredded parmesan cheese with this amazing homemade poppyseed dressing.  They have the biggest blackberries I’ve ever seen.  And their grilled chicken just melts in your mouth.  So so yummy!!!

And here’s one of my faves….  Salmon with sriracha sauce ….

I love sriracha sauce!!!  It might be my favorite thing to put on …. well, anything, not just salad.  But it’s awesome on salad!!

Ok – I’ll stop there with my homage to salad.  Just know, I could probably post 100 pictures of salads in this post.  I love them.  I eat them almost every day.  🙂

Question of the Day:  what is your favorite thing to put on a salad??

I could think of no better photo than this.

One of the first few times I was able to hold my daughter.  She was born at 24 weeks at 1 lbs, 9 oz.  In this photo she is about 3 weeks old.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Unique

From WordPress:  It was so unexpected that I had to immortalize it in photo; to me, it told a story of not being afraid to be unique, to stand out, to embrace difference.  In a new post specifically created for this challenge, share a picture that says UNIQUE to you.

At first, I thought this was a difficult assignment.  But then as I was looking through my photos, I came up with more than a few that I think fit the criteria.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Illumination

From WordPress:  IN A NEW POST CREATED SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A PICTURE THAT MEANS ILLUMINATION TO YOU.

If you’ve read my blog for more than a week, you’ve probably guessed that we like live music.  More specifically, we like seeing our favorite bands play live!

Right now, our favorite bands are The Delta Saints and The Dirty Guv’nahs.  Here are a few of my favorites from the shows we attended in 2012:

(all of which include an impressive light show)!!

As a matter of fact, it was this show at the Bijou where we were first introduced to The Delta Saints.  They were the opening band and they blew us away.  They are so amazing.  You need to check them out!!  We’ve been following them ever since.

And one of my favorite shows of the year was the New Years Eve concert.  We were introduced to a new band, A Thousand Horses.  Might have to start listening to them too.  They were really good.

From WordPress:   Happy New Year! Welcome to the first Weekly Photo Challenge of 2013!

Resolved. This is that time of year, isn’t it? Full of resolutions and good intentions. Why not share a photo which represents one of your New Year’s resolutions? If you don’t make them, what about sharing a photo which represents something you’d like to get better at in photography this year?

Share a picture which means RESOLVED to you!

To continue my post about my 2013 goals, I will put them into pictures:

new shoes

I resolve to put lots of miles on my new shoes. Combined with plenty of cross training. Hopefully they will be ready for replacement much sooner than usual.

race medals

I resolve to add another race medal (or two) to my collection this year! And I resolve to set a new PR as well.

ace fitness

I resolve to have my ACE Personal Trainer Certification completed during the first quarter of the year.

Weekly Photo Challenge: My 2012 in Pictures

From WordPress: My 2012 in Pictures. Do I need to say more? And you knew this was going to be a multi-photo challenge! Make sure you include picture captions to explain to people what they’re seeing, and experiment with the tiled galleries I love so much.

Pick the best pictures from your 2012 and have those pictures tell everyone about your year.

My theme for 2012 was ‘Family Time’.  We took several trips as a family, and also managed to get a few weekend get aways as a couple too.  I want to do even more in 2013!

Here are just a few of the pics I took in 2012 ….  in no particular order.  (Mostly because I am unsure as to how to get them in a particular order with this gallery tool).  🙂

Weekly Photo Challenge: Surprise

From WordPressSurprise. There was talk of some sort of apocalypse today, but so far, so good. Big surprise! In honor of the world continuing, show me some surprises! If you’re at a loss what to share, I bet many of you have surprises hidden under a tree or in a closet somewhere. My photo is about the first big snowfall which surprised us overnight here in Italy. I woke up to a world covered in white and these were my first steps into the snow.

Share a picture which means SURPRISE to you!

surprise 1

Love watching my kids being surprised by Christmas morning.

surprise 2

Do you see her excitement??  This girl LOVES Mickey!!!!

surprise 3

surprise 4

Oh my gosh.  It’s the Lego Ninjago set he wanted!!

surprise 5

And this last picture isn’t too ‘surprising’ but it’s cute.  She got her own “leaptop” and now she’s blogging about how awesome Christmas was.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Delicate

From WordPress:  Delicate could be the tracings of frost on a window, a child’s tiny fingers and toes, the intricate pattern of a tree’s canopy, or something yet-to-be-discovered. So much of this challenge depends on your interpretation of “delicate,” and we look forward to seeing the range of images you capture.

IN A NEW POST CREATED SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A PICTURE THAT MEANS DELICATE TO YOU.

butterfly

Butterflies are definitely delicate.

poppy

Poppies are delicate.

bird

Birds?  Are they delicate?

cricket

A cricket —  Just look at his delicate little legs.

And finally, the first thing that popped in my head for ‘Delicate’ was my daughter.  Being born 16 weeks early, she was definitely delicate.  No other word to describe her.  But since I used her as my subject for the Weekly Photo Challenge 2 weeks ago when ‘Thankful’ was the prompt.  I didn’t want to completely repeat myself.  But I can’t help bragging on her.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Changing Seasons

From WordPress:  Changing Seasons. It’s the first week of December, and where I live, on the west coast of the US, the weather has cooled, the trees are bare, and the sky seems much more volatile and moody. Here, we’re saying goodbye to fall and hello to winter. In other parts of the world, it’s snowing. And for our neighbors down south, it’s almost summer.

In a new post created specifically for this challenge, share a picture that means CHANGING SEASONS to you.

Winter

Winter

It’s impossible to pick just one picture.  So I chose one per season.  Here in East Tennessee, we have been experiencing warmer than usual temperatures (which I love).  I’d be just fine if it never got cold here.  I love the other three seasons of the year, but I absolutely hate winter!
