Sprinting and Sunsets

If you follow me on Instagram (katiedaisy921), then you’ve already seen these pictures.

Last night’s sunset was awesome.

The clouds will usually dictate whether a sunset will be a good one or not.

clouds

I love those big, billowing clouds that look like cotton.

When I got home from work last night, I challenged hubby to a little Crossfit MetCon-style workout.  MetCon is short for metabolic conditioning.  High intensity interval training.  We started with a few Tabatas.  If you’ve never done Tabatas before, you need to!  It’s 8 rounds of 20 seconds work, 10 seconds rest.  One tabata is only 4 minutes long.  Sounds easy, right??  Ha!  Think again.  If you have a smart phone, there is a nifty little app you can download that will sound a buzzer at the end of each 20-second and 10-second interval.  I believe the name of the app is HIIT but you can find it by searching for “Tabata Timer”.

Then after dinner, we took the kids for a walk around the neighborhood (for the third night in a row – what up!!)  I kept challenging my 7-year old to a sprinting contest every time we came to a hill, just to keep getting my heart rate up… well, and to wear his butt out!  (7-year olds have way too much energy)  lol

When we got back from the walk, we put the kids to bed and pressed play on Shoulders & Arms DVD (P90X).  We didn’t do the whole video, mostly because it’s an hour long and I was already exhausted, but we did enough to get the arms moving.

I’m proud of us.  When I got home from work, I really just wanted to crack open a bottle of wine and chill on the couch.  Instead, we ate a healthy dinner (tuna wrap) and exercised (all evening)!  Go us!  🙂

WIAW – 8/1/12

Time for another installment of ‘What I Ate Wednesday’.

But I warn you, it’s not great. Nor recommended.

Before I even had time to eat breakfast, I was out the door pushing the stroller around the neighborhood.  We covered 3 hilly miles.

When I got back to the house I was starving. So I counted out 14 almonds (1/2 serving) before pressing play on P90X Plyometrics.

My daughter even did part of the video with me!

(Ignore the dark picture and the toy-filled room).  🙂

For lunch, I couldn’t resist my famous low-carb veggie wrap. Have you tried these Flat Outs yet??  They are really good!  Only 100 calories and 9 net carbs.

image

We had some veggies leftover from the chicken fajitas we ordered the night before at Chili’s.  (Yeah, let’s don’t talk about my carb overload that day)!

image

I added spinach, jalapenos and hot sauce, of course!

I didn’t snap a picture of dinner because, well, I am embarrassed to say – I didn’t eat dinner last night. I know, I know – that’s not smart. It’s just that I had a hair appt that took longer than expected. I didn’t get home til after 8:30 and at that point, I just wasn’t hungry anymore.
I’m sure I’ll make up for it tomorrow!

Hump Day Plans

motivation

I don’t know about you, but I’m in need of a little motivation this morning.  I’m off from work this week.  The plan was to have a killer workout every day.  So far, I’m 0 for 3.  Yep, that’s right – I haven’t worked out in 3 days.  I wish I could say it’s because I was busy or doing other things.  Nope, I was just being lazy.  And still not out of my funk either.  But I’m going to try to turn it all around today.

motivation

I found these quotes on Pinterest this morning.  I hope they have inspired you as much as they inspired me.  So with that, I’m walking out the door to take my daughter for a walk around the neighborhood.  It’s just too pretty not to.  When we return, I’m pressing ‘play’ on the Plyometrics DVD from P90X.  Bring It!!

Hope you have a Happy Hump Day!!  🙂
